Which NBA Players Smoke Weed?

Whether players are smoking buds, consuming edibles or applying oils and lotions to relax or for pain management, NBA players love their weed.

Kenyon Martin was a defensive beast and was known as a bad boy during his career. He’s certainly a bad ass as he loves his Mary Jane. He estimates that 85% of NBA players love the stuff and smoke it too.

So which NBA players smoke weed?

JR Smith

Who can forget J.R. Smith forgetting the score in Game 1 of the 2018 NBA Finals, costing Cleveland the game. Instead of attempting a shot as time was expiring, he dribbled the ball to half court much to the anger of LeBron James. The Cavs went on to lose the game and got swept in the series. Smith’s antics on the court proves he’s a stoner.

Matt Barnes

How do we know Matt Barnes smoked before NBA games? He admitted it! Barnes forged a successful 14-season career in the league and is one of the most “high” profile former players advocating the use of weed. Barnes hosts a successful podcast called All That Smoke alongside fellow former-NBA star and pothead Stephen Jackson.

Stephen Jackson

Matt Barnes’ partner in crime, All That Smoke cohost Stephen Jackson, admitted that he smoked weed during his entire career but chose to do so after games so he could perform on the court. He went on to say that other plays may be able to play high but he didn’t believe that he’d be able to perform at a “high” standard if he did so.

Lamar Odom

It’s no secret that Lamar Odom has a history of drug use. In 2015 he almost died after suffering kidney failure, several heart attacks and 12 strokes as a result of using cocaine. Odom has a history of failing drug tests and his blooper real is hard evidence that he got high before hitting the courts.

Klay Thompson

Former teammate Andrew Bogut revealed that Klay Thompson went by the nickname “Big Smokey” and he has a history with weed. Klay was arrested back in his college days for possession. Some say his often faded appearance is just his personality but there’s no doubt Kush Klay is blazed in this interview alongside Nick Young.

Rasheed Wallace

Wallace holds the record for most technical fouls in a season with 41 in 80 games in 2000-01 which is a record that will be impossible to beat with suspensions once players hit a certain amount of technical fould. “Ball Don’t Lie” Rasheed Wallace has been done for weed before, having been caught with 49 grams of ganja by the police with teammate Damon Stoudamire. That’s proof he went all chippi chippi after a game.
